1 Corinthians 13:1-3

In the second week of his new series, Pastor Stacey Harris talks about love's "essentiality". As he studies the first three verses of 1 Corinthians 13, Pastor Harris teaches the church that agape love is the most essential element in all of Christian life and service; for without love factored in the equation of what we say, see, and do, everything amounts to nothing.

    1 Corinthians 12:31, 13:1-13

This Sunday, Pastor Stacey Harris begins a new series for the new year entitled How Is Your Love Life?  Studying one of history's most famous passages of scripture, Pastor Harris introduces the series by first examining 1 Corinthians 12:31, thus setting the important context in which 1 Corinthians 13 is written. Furthermore, he teaches the congregation how to see the excellent agape love Paul speaks of, which calls us to be love, not loving because of an emotion, but because of a willful and conscious decision to love all who we meet with the "more excellent" love of Christ.

    Sunday, December 28, 2014

    Acts 11:26

This Sunday, Pastor Stacey Harris examines the meaning of the label 'Christian' as given to those in the early church. Translated as "little Christ", Pastor Harris explains what people saw in the early Christians which reflected Jesus so strongly that they would assign their peers such a name. Furthermore, he encourages the congregation to be Christians, using the term not to denote any religious affiliation, but instead as it was first meant: as a description of those whose lives were motivated by Christ and his example - living differently, dynamically, and deliberately for the Father.

In the final week of his Church People series, Pastor Stacey Harris examines "the heralding person." Exemplified by Demetrius, the church learns that the heralding person is a Christian whose life is marked by happiness, holiness, and the heralding of Christ in his or her life. Furthermore, Pastor Harris encourages the church to live a life heralding Christ by displaying Him with their lives and declaring Him with their lips.

    3 John 1:9-11

This Sunday, Pastor Stacey Harris continues his Church People series by studying the second of three "church people" outlined in the Third Epistle of John. He calls Diotrephes "the hindering and haughty person," and by examining him, Pastor Harris shows the congregation the destructive, dismal, and devious characteristics of a prideful spirit. Next, he considers how to recognize pride and the way to defeat it when we see it attempt to manifest itself in our own lives.

    3 John 1-14, Focus: 3 John 1-8

"What is a church person?" This is the question Pastor Stacey Harris asks as he begins a new three week study in Third John entitled Church People. Of the three types of church people outlined by John, Pastor Harris teaches the congregation that each "church person" displays characteristics of all, but embodies one more predominantly than the others. To begin the series he examines Gaius, "the helping person," and outlines the characteristics of such a person within the church by studying his relationships, reputation, and actions.

    1 Corinthians 15:58

This Sunday, Pastor Stacey Harris preaches on the importance of knowing what we believe. He states that because of the resurrection, Grace is available, the power of death is annulled, the prospects of Glory are assured, and a better kingdom with a better covenant awaits us. Secondly, he teaches the congregation what Paul charges the Church of Corinth to do as they await the coming of Christ's kingdom and encourages us to do the same. He says God's children must seek to be constant, concrete, continuous, and convinced.
