Advent 2014 Day 25

Advent Day 25

John 3:16

I don’t know about you, but this verse does not come to mind very often for me when I think about Christmas. Of course we all know it, see it at ball games, and read it on bumper stickers and across t-shirts … but it’s not on many Christmas ornaments or sung in many of the carols.

We know it’s “eluded to” with the birth of our Savior but doesn’t seem to be mentioned much here on Christmas day.

Look at the graphic and read it with me … see that? He gave. Wow! Here on Christmas day as we are sharing gifts, think of this one — He gave. He gave … from heaven. He gave … out of love. He gave … His only Son. Why? He gave His only Son so that whoever (you, me, our neighbors … basically us rotten sinners) believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. That life can begin now with believing in Him … and goes on forever with Him in heaven.

My heart and my mind have a hard time unwrapping that gift. His gift. The love, the grace, the mercy — His plan.

I hope this Christmas day, you will know for the first time or be reminded for the millionth time — that God loves you and His gift for you and for those around you is His Son, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

So join me. Let’s go adore Him.
