Advent 2014 Day 22

Advent Day 22

Luke 1:26-27

While meditating on these verses, I’m reminded and comforted in knowing just how much God love’s us and cares for us. When things seem insurmountable and/or out of control, even when we don’t see the storm coming, God reminds us that He is in control.

Mary did not know what was in store for her, or for that matter, what the consequences were going to be. God in His infinite wisdom, sent Gabriel as the bearer of the upcoming new’s, but also as a comforter.

I’m sure Mary was excited and delighted in the new’s that God had chosen her to give birth to the Christ child. That new’s also brought new challenges. Confronting family, friends, Joseph and the religious leaders. God worked that all out. Even though Mary was up to the task spiritually, She had to prepare mentally and physically as well. Gabriel assured her that God would be with her all the way.

We are all chosen of God. God has promised us in His Word that He will always be with us. Take comfort this Christmas season and throughout the year that God is always there through the good times and the storms in life. Be prepared as Mary mentally, physically and most importantly spiritually to share the Good News and the love of Christ.
