Marriage: Are We Having Fun Yet?

Led by Jeff & Lynne Bryant
Room 102

Ideally, we envision our marriage as a series of planned and preventative steps to ensure happiness, financial stability, blissfulness, and oneness as we stand on the cruise ship sailing into the most beautiful sunset of our golden years. You might say our plans are to put up smoke detectors along the way to prevent the destruction of fire. But the reality is, our pants are on fire most of the time!

Our 8 weeks together will be discussing the fullness we can find in our marriages through Biblical teachings, our collective experiences, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. It’s finding the calm and direction through the fires while enjoying the contentment and joy when our efforts putting up smoke detectors keep our marriages in a safe and appreciated place–and, regardless of the situation, being able to truly feel “it is well with my soul.”

***Disclaimer – This course is not being led by professional counselors or doctors. There is no assurance of fixing challenged marriages, and it surely is not intended to bring attention to those who are leading in the discussions. Our hope is that God leads our discussions, thoughts, and activities. As a result, families not only become closer to Him, but are also truly lead by His mighty hand.

About Our Teachers

fish1

Jeff & Lynne Bryant

Jeff, a native of Baltimore MD, and Lynne, a native of Asheville, have been married for just over 30 years after dating through college at Carson Newman University. They have been back in Lynne’s home town for the last 20 years. (We’re Mr. and Mrs. “B” at Reynolds High School for those who are local.)

The Bryant’s have the privilege of being the parents of Carson (26) and Rachel (24), who reside with their spouses in Chattanooga, TN. Sixteen weeks ago the Bryant’s welcomed their first grandchild into the family, Porter Scott Moon.

Lynne has been a teacher for almost 30 years, specializing in Special Needs, while Jeff has played in the Construction Equipment industry for over 30 years. Jeff’s profession has required the family to move 4 times in their 30 years together, which has brought incredible challenges, the introduction to great friends, and a great reliance on God for what He has had in store for them.

Their family cornerstones are like many…faith, family and fun. And like many, keeping these in the right pecking order has not always been perfect. But without fail, God has always brought them back in line and has restored as well.

As empty nesters and grandparents, they are in uncharted waters, but are excited what God has in store for them to enjoy together!

Adam Guice

Pastor Adam has been serving on staff at Trinity of Fairview for the last 15 years. He served faithfully as the student pastor for most of that time, and has served as the executive & education pastor for the past three years.

He was born and raised in West Asheville and graduated from Erskine College in 2003 with a christian education degree and a family studies minor.

He has a wife of 16 years, Sherry, and three wonderful kids, Aleigha (11), Evan (8), and Annelise (5). He also enjoys coaching golf, basketball, and cross country.

Kay Belknap

Kay Belknap did not come to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior until she was 32 years old. It was during this time that God in his mercy called her to him. Ever since that day, she has had a love for God and his Word.

Kay has two children, both of whom are married to delightful people, and four grandchildren. She was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years, during which time she served as Chairman and speaker for Christian Women’s Club as well as a Precept Bible study leader. She has led Precept Upon Precept Bible studies for over 30 years, teaching through other venues as well when God has opened the door.

When Kay’s son left for college, God opened the door for her to join Gary and Margo Prechter and Lynn Gilpin to establish Veritas Christian Academy, which opened in August of 1998. She served as the Head of School for 19 years, retiring in June 2017. One of her greatest joys was leading Lower School Chapel for children in third through fifth grades.

As a member of Trinity of Fairview, Kay is excited about being an active participant in the fellowship, growth, and ministry offered through Trinity’s God-given mission.
