Engage. Enlighten. Empower.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God…”
John 1:12

God has not left us to live as His children on this planet under our own power and authority. He has promised the believer all the power he or she needs to become all God intended him or her to be. Still, the trials of life weigh heavily on our shoulders. Even the simple stress and strain of day-to-day living can take its toll. Daily our faith is challenged. Daily we attempt to live by our own strength. Daily we seem to falter.
Empower Bible Conference aims to refresh and renew the weary believer through dynamic worship and the anointed preaching of God’s Word. Taking place across three days and four sessions, we welcome four special guest speakers with the intent to engage the church in an enlightening look at the wonderful truths God has freely gifted to His children, thus empowering each of us to live our life and our faith as He has so perfectly envisioned.
Info about our 2018 speakers along with the date and time they will be speaking can be found below. Come and be empowered!

Dr. Stephen E. Harris is a dynamic preacher and teacher of the Word of God who has been in the pastoral ministry for well over 40 years.
He holds degrees from Fruitland Baptist College, Mars Hill College, and a Master of Divinity as well as a Theological Doctorate from Covington Theological Seminary.
Pastor Steve, as most who know him call him, is the Pastor Emeritus of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church—a body that experienced dynamic, kingdom growth during his 36-year ministry there from 1974 until 2010.
He is also the interim pastor at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Black Mountain, serving by assisting the body there in finding the next step God has for them in light of their wonderful heritage.
Pastor Steve has been married to his lovely wife Sandra for 56 years. He has a daughter, Stephanie, and a son, Stacey—both of whom currently serve the Lord on staff at Trinity of Fairview. He also has six grandchildren whom he loves very deeply.
Pastor Steve loves to travel; enjoy a fine, home-cooked meal; study the Word; and walk daily with the Holy Spirit. He is a man given much to prayer. His skill as a pastor, preacher, and teacher are extraordinary. We are excited to have such a marvelous man of God open our conference this year!

Due to other commitments, Stuart Hall will no longer be joining us on Sunday, October 7. Sunday night speaker coming soon.

Dr. Greg Mathis has been the Senior Pastor of Mud Creek Baptist Church, Hendersonville, N.C. since 1980. The church now has over 4,000 members. Paul Wilkes, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, in a recent book entitled Excellent Protestant Congregations, identified Mud Creek Baptist Church as one of the Most Excellent Places of Worship in America.
In addition, Dr. Mathis is Professor of Evangelism at Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville, N.C. where he has taught since 1981. He regularly preaches in revivals, Bible conferences, and seminars throughout the Southern Baptist Convention and is also the published author of four books: God is Able, But Am I Willing?, Five Smooth Stones, Ultimate Life, and Humility: Without a Name Tag.
Dr. Mathis married Deborah Hiatt of Mount Airy, N.C. in 1977. He has three children and four grandchildren.
He graduated in 1977 from Gardner-Webb College with a Bachelor of Arts and in 1980 from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. He has received two honorary degrees: a Doctor of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University on August 4, 2001 and a Doctor of Divinity from North Greenville University on May 6, 2010.

Mark Hunnicutt is the lead pastor at Brevard Community Church in Brevard, NC. Before coming to BCC, Mark served as pastor at NewPointe Church Dover Campus in Dover, Ohio. He has also served as Pastor of Ministries at Mud Creek Church, one of the top ten largest baptist churches in NC, from 1996 to 2014. Mark instructed at Fruitland Baptist Bible College from 1998 to 2014 and holds degrees from Fruitland College, North Greenville College, and Masters International School of Divinity.
Hunnicutt committed to Jesus in 1980 and accepted a “ministry call” in 1992. In 1994, he married his High School sweetheart, Cheryl Hunnicutt. Cheryl works as an on-call trip leader for Compassion International. She leads child advocacy mission trips to most third world countries—releasing kids from poverty in Jesus’ name. They sponsor two precious African children and have several godchildren but no kids of their own.
Certified in Disaster Relief, Mark leads teams in responding to foreign and domestic disasters. He also is very involved in global missions, leading teams around the world yearly. In 2012, he was in Africa when diagnosed with Male Breast Cancer.
Mark enjoys adventure with his wife Cheryl, EPIC movies and most reality TV shows (especially Amazing Race and Survivor), the Duke Blue Devils, and anything involving fishing! He dislikes chemotherapy, country music, candy corn, and Rice Krispies treats. His kryptonite is candy corn mixed into a Rice Krispies treat. So, never administer chemo to him playing loud country music while eating candy corn Rice Krispies treats.
Mark believes that Jesus is enough! He is constantly learning and living that message since being diagnosed with Leukemia two weeks before his High School graduation.
Mark believes that the local church is the hope of the world!
